"NURSES WANTED" is the headline splashed across three columns of the Morgan City Daily Herald. The City Board of Health has issued "drastic orders" closing churches, moving pictures and even soda fountains, but people are reported to be going about busienss as usual without panic. The upcoming Columbus Day gathering is cancelled. The St Mary's Red Cross reminds the local hospitals that care should be organized "in such a manner that both white and colored be taken care of." (Column 6).
