The Red Cross is starting its membership drive in Omaha, NE, shifting its focus from the war to the influenza epidemic and reconstruction. The singing tour of Dutch diva Marie van Gilder is disrupted by the influenza outbreak, stranding her in Omaha, where she is working in a restaurant.
