The social effect of influenza is broad in West Virginia: the Parkersburg Mystic Shrine has had to delay the initiation ceremony; Dr Claude Thomas has been assigned as an assistant surgeon general in Martinsburg to address the mines closed by influenza; and in Morgantown the county boys and girls farm show is postponed and then abandoned for the year.
