In Holbrook, Arizona on the edge of the petrified forest an "epidemic of grip" is described, with many person "confined to their homes." This "influenza thing. Yes we have it" is the disease "more than another that causes a person to hate himself," portends the coming national wave. Dr. Sampson has visited to from Winslow to quarantine a local barber for smallpox. The paper also publishes a full schedule of the "less days": pork-less, wheat-less, "save fats from every meal," "on all days eat mutton and lamb in preference to pork and beef."
