In Elko, Nevada, "J Lopez Mexican" is the first "slacker" caught by the community. Unable to produce a government registration, and not able to persuade the local authority his California boss had not informed him of his duty to serve, Lopez is given a 15 day sentence for vagrancy. His failure to leave the community because of his association with "Indian Mamie, a squaw" further compounds his image to the authorities. In Russia Trotsky has ceded full party control to Lenin.
