The Salem, Oregon Red Cross has secured 50 pounds of whale meat for its fund raiser, saving other meats for the troops. The novelty and cleanliness of the meat is noted, whales living far from the shore and contaminants. The US government is still keen to see the Soviets continued to fight "the Teutons," even as Trotsky rejects an Russo-American alliance. The first Distinguished Service Crosses were awarded in France. In Idaho the roundup of the IWW by the Adjutant General continues to focus on the lumber camps.
