Eleven hundred soldiers are in the hospital at Camp Sherman, some 163 with infleunza. Eventually more than 1200 would die from influenza of the 80,000 who were billeted at the cantonment. The notes further discuss procedures for reporting food contamination and the fraudulent claims of family allowances. The former ambassador to Germany's memoir is being serialized and describes the Kaiserism and propaganda.
