A public meeting of Waseca, MN farmers to review the labor farmer candidates for state office is suppressed by the War Board and local sheriff. An 84 year old Civil War veteran invites them to meet at his farm. When the sheriff then tries to arrest CJ Buell ("a champion of real democracy") the farmers anger persuades him to let Mr Buell remain free. These events should bring "shame to the faces of every free born, patriotic American citizen," is the editorial opinion of The Nonpartisan Leader.
