Secretary of War Baker has deemed baseball "non-essential" and declares that the players must report for the draft immediately. Humorist Bugs Baer notes this is the first victory for Brooklyn all season. He also notes that the Kaiser is recovering from influenza but not his "influenceza." The NY state Republican convention is interrupted by delegates demanding Senator Wadsworth support universal suffrage or step down.
