Amusement is had with the health status of the population. Health has improved since the civil war - only 27% of the men drafted are found to be unfit, down from 33% sixty years before. The cold is now "old-fashioned" replaced by laryngitis, pharyngitis, rhinitis . . . and a new snow blankets the midwest.
